Jaw Sim Labs

Terms of Service

Last updated September 3, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Jaw Sim Labs when you use jaw-sim-labs.com. By creating an account or uploading a photo you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the service.

1. What Jaw Sim Labs is

Jaw Sim Labs takes a side-profile photograph and applies a geometric warp to it, driven by parameters you choose, to show one possible appearance following orthognathic surgery. It is a drawing tool with anatomy-aware controls. It is for thinking, comparing, and having a better-informed conversation with a surgeon.

2. Medical disclaimer — please read this

Jaw Sim Labs is a visualisation tool. It is not a medical device, it is not diagnostic, and it is not a prediction of your surgical outcome.

It works from a single two-dimensional photograph. It has no scan of your skull, no measurement of your bone, and no model of how your particular soft tissue will respond. Real outcomes depend on soft tissue behaviour, bone quality and quantity, swelling and healing, airway considerations, dental occlusion, your surgeon’s technique and judgement, and factors that cannot be seen in a photograph at all. A real result can differ substantially from anything shown here.

Nothing here is medical advice, a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation, or a second opinion, and using it does not create a doctor-patient relationship with anyone. The automatic assessment of your profile is a geometric observation about an image, not a clinical finding.

Do not use this tool to decide whether to have surgery, which procedure to have, or how many millimetres to move anything. Those are decisions for you and a board-certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon working from proper imaging and an examination. Bring a simulation to that conversation if it helps you describe what you want. Do not bring it as a specification.

If you are distressed about your appearance, please talk to someone — a doctor, or a mental health professional. A tool that lets you reshape your own face repeatedly can make preoccupation worse rather than better, and it is worth being honest with yourself about how you are using it.

3. Your account

You must be 18 or older. Give accurate information, keep your login credentials to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has got into your account. You are responsible for what happens under it.

4. Your photographs

You keep every right you already have in the photographs you upload. We claim no ownership of them.

You grant us a limited licence to store and process your images only so far as is needed to run the service for you: to analyse the photo, produce the simulation, and save it to your account so you can return to it. That licence ends when you delete the image. We do not use your photographs to train models, and we will not publish or advertise with your images without asking you first and getting a clear yes.

You confirm that you have the right to upload the photograph you upload — that it is of you, or that the person in it has agreed. Do not upload photographs of other people without their permission, and do not upload photographs of children.

5. Payment, credits and refunds

Access is sold as a one-time purchase carrying a fixed number of photo simulations. Credits are consumed when a photo is submitted for simulation, not when you export. Payments are processed by Stripe; prices are shown before you buy.

Refunds. If you were charged incorrectly, or the tool fails on a photo that followed the guidance shown on the upload page, email us and we will refund you. We would rather refund you than argue.

We do ask you to follow that guidance, because photo quality is the single largest cause of a poor simulation. A photo that is angled rather than side-on, badly lit, too close or too far, or that hides the jawline or ear, gives the tool nothing to work from — framing and lighting are what the simulation is built out of. A credit spent on a photo with one of the problems listed under “What to avoid” is not refundable on the grounds that the result was poor.

If you are unsure whether a photo qualifies, email it to us before you upload it and we will tell you. We would much rather answer that question than take your money for a result neither of us is happy with. Purchases do not expire and there is no subscription or recurring charge. Nothing here affects any statutory refund or cancellation right you have as a consumer.

6. What you may not do

7. Our intellectual property

The site, the simulation engine, the interface, the name Jaw Sim Labs and the logo are ours and are protected by copyright and other laws. Buying access buys you the right to use the service, not any right in the software behind it.

The exported before-and-after image is yours to do as you like with, including sharing it — subject to section 6. It carries our mark; please leave it there, since it is what tells anyone looking at the picture where it came from and that it is a simulation.

The three-dimensional face model on our home page is “Face Mesh” by Wael Tsar, used under CC BY 4.0 and modified; it is credited in the site footer.

8. Availability

We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, or that it will work on every device and browser. Automatic landmark placement can fail or place points badly on some photographs; that is a limitation of the technique, not a defect you have been wronged by — though if it happens to you, see the refund section. We may change or discontinue features. If we shut the service down, we will give account holders notice and a chance to download their simulations.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that any simulation is accurate, realistic, or achievable.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Jaw Sim Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from a medical decision you made — including a decision to have or not have surgery, or to pursue a particular movement or procedure. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep your statutory rights, and nothing in these terms takes them away.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the service or your breach of these terms — in particular a claim by someone whose photograph you uploaded without their permission.

12. Ending it

You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms. Sections 4 (the parts about your rights in your images), 7, 9, 10 and 11 survive.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change. For a material change we will email account holders. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in.
